Page history last edited by ejandern@slu.edu 14 years, 2 months ago

All three of the group members completed this project together without one person doing more work than anyone else.

This commonly found wallpaper pattern is a cmm.  Its largest rotation is two.  It has a reflection in two directions without all centers being on mirror lines.

This wallpaper pattern is a pgg.  It has a rotation order of two, no reflection, but does have a glide reflection.

The flower-shaped rosette pattern found in this wallpaper pattern is a D8.

This wallpaper pattern is also a p4m because it has reflection and mirror lines intersecting at 45 degrees.

This wallpaper pattern is a P2.  It has a twofold rotation but no reflection or glide reflection.

The picture of the angel is a rosette pattern C1 because it has neither reflection or rotation.

This wallpaper pattern is a pmg because it has twofold rotation and reflection but not in two directions.

This wallpaper pattern is a p6m because it has a sixfold rotation and has reflection.

This wallpaper pattern is a p3 because it has a threefold rotation but no reflection.

This wallpaper pattern is a p6 because it has a sixfold rotation but no reflection.

This wallpaper pattern is a pm because it has no reflection, rotation, or glide reflection.

This is a border pattern p1m1.  It only has horizontal reflection.

This rosette is a D1.  It has reflection but because of the shield in the center it does not have rotation.

This picture has four circular patterns.  The two medium sized circles left and right of the larger circle are D4 rosette patterns. So is the small rosette pattern found on the border pattern on the right side of the page, as well as the two little circles on top and bottom of the larger circle.

The border pattern found on the right-hand side of this picture is a pmm2 because it is rotational and has both vertical and horizontal reflection.

This is a picture of a D6 rosette pattern.

This whole pattern can be regarded as a rosette group C2 because it has no reflection (due to the unsymmetrical circles at each corner of the center diamond) but it has a twofold rotation.

The border pattern over the arch is a pm11 because it has only vertical reflection (no horizontal or rotation).

The small border pattern found in the strip that goes between the two arches at the bottom center of the picture is a p111 border pattern.  Even though it sort of looks like it has symmetry it has no reflection and if you regard the endings of the strip then it does not have rotation either.

This wallpaper pattern is a pmg because it has a twofold rotation and reflection but not in two directions.

This is a rosette pattern C4.  It has no reflection but has a fourfold rotation.

The small border pattern making up the interior rectangle that surrounds the two birds is a p112.  It does not have vertical or horizontal reflection but it is rotational.

In the cross shape at center there is a wallpaper pattern pmm.  It has a twofold rotation, reflection in two directions, and with all rotations on center mirror lines.

The center pattern made up of five doves is a D5 Rosette pattern which would count as extra credit.

This wallpaper pattern is a p4m because it has fourfold rotation, reflection, and mirror lines intersect at 45 degrees.

The starfish rosette pattern found in the center of these circles is a D5 rosette pattern which would count for extra credit.

This is the biggest cyclic group that we could find.  It is a d12 (extra credit).

This wallpaper pattern is p4g because it has a fourfold rotation, reflection, but mirror lines do not intersect at 45 degrees.

This is a cm wallpaper patter because it has no rotation but has vertical reflection and has a glide reflection.
